Hampshire Student Life houses support centers and offices—from the Wellness Center to the Queer Community Alliance Center to Residential Life, and many more—plus provides programming designed to enrich your learning and experiences outside the classroom, as well as care and support to improve your holistic well-being, and make your time here stimulating and fun.
Residence Life at Hampshire uses restorative practices in the residences to build relationships and community among residents, and as a response after an event has occurred that disrupts those communities. They support students as they learn to balance their individual rights and needs with the responsibility of being part of the community, and make practices and policies as transparent and plainly reasonable as possible.
Health and Counseling Services offers both medical and mental health support to Hampshire College students. Some (but not all) of the services available include:
The Concern, Assessment, Response and Evaluation (CARE) team is a student focused resource. It is comprised of staff from a variety of student service groups whose goal is to support all students through challenges they may experience during their time at Hampshire. Many supports are available, and the CARE team coordinates response and outreach to empower each student to navigate resources and assist in a plan for their success.
To serve better and retain students of color and international students, the Lebrón-Wiggins Pran Cultural Center provides a range of programs and resources to support and promote the success of students of color and international students at Hampshire College. Additionally, the center provides programs and resources to the larger campus community for engagement in issues related to race, culture, and under-representation, with the underlying goal to effect social change.
Campus Leadership and Activities promotes experiential learning and identity development by providing leadership training, advising, and opportunities for involvement. They strive to engage students in inclusive, fun, and creative activities to foster and strengthen the Hampshire College community.
The Wellness Center promotes health and wellness in the Hampshire community. Their work is prevention-oriented and firmly rooted in the philosophy of harm reduction. The Center consists of a professional staff director, student staff, and partners with many great student organizations such as the Sexperts, P.E.E.R.S., First Gen @ Hampshire, and others.
Here at Hampshire, we believe that spiritual well-being is a key component of holistic wellness, and integrally connected to social justice. The Spiritual Life office strives to offer programs that enable our students to explore these connections while engaging our community in vital questions of meaning, purpose, and how we live in the world.
