Browsing for comics and graphic novels in the stacks

     Library of Congress (LC) call numbers to browse in the stacks:  

         PN6700-6790  Comic books, strips, etc.

NC  Drawing.  Design.  Illustration.

NC1300-1766  Pictorial humor, caricature, etc.

There is no single Library of Congress Subject Heading (LCSH) to cover the entire format or genre of graphic novels and comics.  Below are some hints for useful LCSHs that that you can use by searching SUBJECT in the Five College catalog.

  • Graphic novels.
  • Comic books, strips, etc.
  • Comic books, strips, etc.--United States.
  • Fantasy comic books, strips, etc.
  • Science fiction comic books, strips, etc.
  • Underground comic books, strips, etc.
  • Comic books, strips, etc.--History and criticism.

You may also search specific characters' names as subjects:
