Trace Pads Guide

A simple guide on how to use the trace pads in the Library Media Labs

Tracing Pictures

You can use the Trace Pads to:

  • Trace a drawing
    • For multiple prints of the same image (that need to be painted, come in different colors, etc)
    • To practice adding color to an outline/image
    • To create transfers/something you can reuse (iron transfers for clothes, tattoo sheets, etc)
    • To create a pattern

  • Trace a photograph
    • Black and white images with minimal shadows are suggested

You can also create symmetrical images/patterns by flipping the paper that you are tracing around and continuing to draw at the edge that the reflection should start.
