Sound Booth Guide (B5)

A step-by-step guide on how to record using the equipment in the B5 Sound Booth

It's not working!

> I can't use the mouse or keyboard from inside the booth

  • Did you choose the right station on the KVM Selector Switch? See Plug everything in
  • Try unplugging the mouse or keyboard from the back of the KVM Selector Switch
  • If you are using station B5C (Mac), it can be buggy. See Fixing the Mac: Keyboard & Mouse

> I'm hitting record but no audio is being recorded

  • Did you plug the microphones into the right station? See Plug everything in
  • Are the input and output in your audio recording program set to the right audio interfaces? See Choose input and output
  • Check your recording volume in the program you're using. If it is at zero, you will need to raise it.
  • Check your recording volume on the Audio Interface next to your station's computer. Gain 1 and Gain 2 will determine the audio gain (volume) of the sound coming through Mic 1 and Mic 2. Be careful not to turn it up too much. You never want to record audio in the red.

> The audio interface is missing / There is no option to change input/output to UMC404

> I can't hear through the headphones in the booth

  • Did you turn the volume on the Headphone Amp up for the right number headphone? See Plug everything in
  • Check the system preferences / control panel on the computer. Make sure the sound output is set to the right output.

Fixing the Mac: Keyboard & Mouse

Make sure the Mac is not in sleep mode.

Try unplugging and plugging the cords back in from the following places:

  • The USB cord into the KVM Selector Switch inside of the booth

  • The USB Extension cord into the Mac itself.

Fixing the Mac: Missing Audio Interface

Try unplugging and plugging back in the following:

  • The dark gray USB cord in the back of the Behringer Uphoria UMC 404HD Audio interface, it is located in the black Rack immediately to the right of the Macintosh.
